Our mission is to inspire resiliency, healing, self-confidence, and whole person wellness through collaboration, support and empowerment.
OUR VISION
Our Safe Haven, Inc.'s vision is to bring hope to hurting adolescents and non-minor dependents and to help them heal wounds from their pasts, thrive in the present, and create a hopeful future. We hope to show that providing a safe, caring environment can assist in impacting and changing their lives, and that our youth will grow towards establishing healthy lives and relationships. Our overall vision-is that all children live with a committed, permanent, and nurturing family and have strong community connections.
OSH hopes that our youth can learn self-respect and respect for others. We believe each youth should have access to a good education and a stable environment, leading them toward self-reliant, prosperous, and fulfilling adult lives.
OUR PURPOSE
Our Safe Haven, Inc. (OSH) is a holistic short-term residential treatment program for adolescents and non minor dependents who require specialized mental health services in order to transition to a lower level of care, including with biological family or foster homes. We serve females, including transgender, gender expansive, and LGBTQ+ youth and non-minor dependents, ages 12 through 18+NMD, who have been removed from their homes by the Department of Children and Family Services or who are involved in the Juvenile Justice system. Our youth struggle with a range of self-destructive behaviors, symptoms or behaviors indicative of complex traumatic stress and/or adverse childhood experiences, identity formation issues, and may experience symptoms related to depression, anxiety, self-concept and family issues that inhibit well-being and healthy relationships.
Our purpose is to meet the emotional, spiritual, educational, physical, social, and mental health needs of the youth we serve. We provide an enriched therapeutic milieu that promotes the conditions for healing to unfold. The average length of stay is six (6) months. OSH is committed to developing, promoting and delivering high quality programs to our youth and their families. We strive to create an interactive and enriching environment that addresses the developmental, physical, emotional, social, mental health and spiritual needs of each youth served by teaching basic life and independent living skills, creating stability and emotion regulation, and preparing for adulthood.
